Wee Care

Wee Care Residential provides short-term crisis or emergency accommodation, as well as respite care for children 0 to 11 years of age.

  • Wee Care receives government funding, therefore there is no cost to families accessing this service.
  • Wee Care operates 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  • Wee Care can provide short term care overnight and during the day, for children whose families are in crisis because of homelessness, hospitalisation or other emergency situations, or where early intervention may help to prevent family breakdown.

Wee Care works in conjunction with other community and family support agencies to provide support to families. If referred to us (or through self referral) we will undertake an assessment of family needs such as the length, frequency and type of care that will best assist your family.

What happens at Wee Care?

During their stay at Wee Care children will not just have their physical needs met but will be provided with a nurturing environment where they are listened to and cared for.

Whilst in our care we endeavour to ensure that all children feel safe and settled.

  • There are always a minimum of two Direct Care Workers on hand 24 hours.
  • We aim to provide a home away from home with nutritious meals and opportunities for games, television, movies, reading and structured play both inside and outside.
  • While children are staying with us at Wee Care we transport them to and from school, assist them with their homework, arrange outings and other fun activities.

It is our objective to ensure that children have a positive experience during their time with us, given the difficult circumstances their families may be experiencing.
